Historical Industrial Expansion

The Arkansas oil boom shifted national attention toward the southern region of the state. Previously, the local economy relied on the cotton and timber industries. However, these markets faced a significant decline before 1921. The discovery of oil transformed the financial prospects of the area. Consequently, the museum preserves the history of this industrial expansion. The facility maintains twenty-five thousand square feet of exhibit space. Furthermore, a collection management facility supports the preservation of historical artifacts. A woodland walk and an outdoor park complement the indoor displays.

Scientific Research and Engineering

The museum features a dedicated space for scientific exploration and mechanical assembly. This area encourages the investigation of various scientific phenomena. Specifically, visitors interact with kinetic machines and electrical components. These activities illustrate fundamental principles of physics and engineering. Moreover, the environment allows for a detailed study through hands-on construction. Each project represents a practical application of scientific theory. Ultimately, these exhibits provide a deeper understanding of the technology used in natural resource management.

Functional Extraction Exhibits

The outdoor park occupies five acres adjacent to the education center. This area contains seven functional examples of oil production technology. These machines demonstrate methods used in the regional oil fields from 1920 to the present day. Historically, these techniques evolved to improve extraction efficiency. Visitors follow a woodland path to view the equipment in operation. Consequently, the park provides a visual timeline of industrial development. The exhibits highlight the mechanical changes required to sustain long-term resource production.
